Book underway!

We’ve written our (first?) book about the Manitoba Food History Project. It’s now going through the peer review stage at University of Manitoba Press, and we hope that it will be available for purchase in summer 2023. It’s not a comprehensive summary of everything we’ve learned from our fellow Manitobans, but it will give you a taste (haha!) of some of the amazing stories and foods that we’ve encountered over the past few years.

We’re looking forward to sharing with you the history of barbecue in this province, some recipes for Ichi Ban cocktails and slow-roasted bison with burned sage, photos of our railway journey to Churchill and our experiences on the Manitoba Food History Truck, the origins of Winnipeg’s Fat Boy, and so much more!

While we wait to hear from the peer reviewers, we are making plans for the book launch. Stay tuned!
